Ukrainian seaports: grain transfer, 2003/04

Dear colleagues!

ProAgro Information Company has prepared a new analytical publication entitled "Ukrainian seaports: grain transfer in 2003/04 MY" in Russian and in English.

This new review includes a detailed analysis of export trends development, transit and import trends of grains and products though Ukrainian seaports during 2003/04 MY, itemized transfer of grains, destinations, key players in the ports, detailed port by port figures. This review comes in two parts: analytical which gives a detailed analysis of grain transfer from July 2003 until June 2004 and a detailed statistical part. Both data have explanatory tables and diagrams.

During 2003/04 MY Ukrainian seaports kept transferring massive amounts of grains. Overall grain volume transferred during the season in review totaled 3.6 MMT. However, this is almost 3.7 times less compared to the previous season – a big factor here was a poor crop in both Ukraine and Russia. Moreover, about 66% of the overall volume transferred was feed barley. The focus was put primarily on large ports which using their efficient transfer capacities managed to minimize the cost of both export and transit grains transfer. The key companies operating in the Ukrainian seaports during 2003/04 MY managed to maintain their leading positions in terms of volumes shipped however they did decrease their indicators.

This review will be of use to those market operators which are involved in grain trading and would like to discover the key indicators of the Ukrainian seaports transferring grains, expand their marketing destinations. Analysts of grain trading companies researching Black Sea markets will find it helpful as well.

The research includes:

  • Key trends of seaport grains transfer including export, transit and imports during 2003/04 MY;
  • Itemized grains shipment analysis, volumes dynamics, destinations of shipments via Ukrainian seaports during 2003/04 MY, in general and itemized;
  • Analysis of individual traders performance overall during the season and on the monthly basis 2003/04 MY;
  • Our own ratings of traders based on volume, destination and port by port performance etc.

This publication consists of 105 pages (Times New Roman, size 10, Tables - size 8 & 9), of which 54 pages of – analytical part and 56 pages of statistics. The complete publication includes both electronic version and a hard copy.
