Condition and development prospects of turkey meat production in Ukraine

State Department of Veterinary Medicine is a government authority which is a part of Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

The main tasks of State Department of Veterinary Medicine are participation in implementation of state policy on veterinary medicine, state veterinary and sanitary oversight and inspection of quality and safety of foodstuff and animal origin products.

State Department of Veterinary Medicine organizes development and implementation of antiepizootic, treatment and prevention, veterinary and sanitary measures; supervises use of veterinary preparations, drugs and treatment methods.

State Department of Veterinary Medicine also provides for control and oversight of production and application of veterinary preparations and drugs, fodders and fodder supplements; assessment of their impact on animals’ health; organizes veterinary and sanitary examination of products of animal and plant origin.

 

Scientific support of pedigree turkey breeding in Ukraine

His research experience is 14 years. He is a specialist in the field of poultry breeding, selection and genetics quantification. He is an author of 75 researches, including 8 books and guidelines.

Poultry Research Institute of UAAS was founded as Ukrainian Research Poultry Institute in 1930 in Kamenets-Podolsk. In 1938 it was reorganized into Ukrainian Research Poultry Station and transferred to Borky village (Kharkov region). In 1959, the Station was awarded the status of a Research Institute which is now the leading Ukrainian Poultry Research Centre.

Institute works on preparations for treatment and prevention of avian mycotoxicosis and methods of their use in poultry industry. A number of scientific solutions developed by the Institute were used as a basis for prospective plans of development of poultry breeding and selective breeding programs. Currently the Institute develops business-plans for individual farms and provides consultations on management in poultry breeding.
