According to Economic Discussion Club the results of September-December MY 2016/17 showed that Ukraine produced 2.08 MMT of vegetable oil, which is 24% more than the same period of the last season.
Thus, 201 KMT out of the total production were directed for domestic food consumption or 4.7 kg per person.
It is also noted, that during the reporting period Ukrainian farmers exported 1.9 MMT of vegetable oil, which is 17% more than in September-December MY 2015/16. More than half of Ukrainian exports headed to India, China and the Netherlands.
At the same time imports of oil in the reporting month amounted to 82 KMT, of which nearly 90% is palm oil, which is imported mainly from Indonesia.
Experts predict that in the MY 2016/17 Ukraine will produce 5.8 MMT of vegetable oil, of which sunflower oil will amount 5.5 MMT.
Export of Ukrainian vegetable oil in the new MY is expected to reach 5.4 MMT (incl. 5 MMT of sunflower oil), whereas import expected to be 0.2 MMT.
