Kenya imports nearly half a million tons of Ukrainian corn

According to ZN.UA with reference to Bloomberg, Kenya confirmed import of 450 KMT of corn from Ukraine due to the reduction of the own harvest.

Notably, Kenya buys Ukrainian corn for the first time since 2011.

It is noted that the purchase will be held by private companies, which then resell Ukrainian corn to farms as feed for livestock.

According to the Director of the grain division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Kenya, African country hopes that the import will happen as quickly as possible. Supply of corn from Ukraine will let people sell more local corn on the markets.

It is emphasized that the overall Ukrainian corn purchase will cost Kenya $119 million.
