In 2017, the gross output of livestock in Ukraine is projected at 68.8 billion UAH, which is 0.6% less than the last year.
It has been reported by Institute of Agricultural Economics (IAE).
According to the head of the production and land relations department of IAE Victor Mesel-Veselyaka, meat production volumes are forecasted at 3159.0 KMT, which is 0.5% less than last year.
The volume of beef production will decrease by 2.7% – down to 566 KMT. Production of pork meat will be decreasing as well – down to 988.0 KMT, which is 1.4% less than in 2016.
It is noted that after a slight downturn of poultry meat production in 2015 to 1505 KMT, there is a tendency of production increase at 1524 KMT and the trend is likely to continue in 2017. According to the forecasts of scientists from Institute of Agricultural Economics, it is expected that poultry meat production will increase by 1.1% compared to 2016 – up to 1541.0 KMT. Production of sheep and goat meat will be 26.9 KMT, which is 2.2% less than in 2016.
Downward trend will also be maintained in the volume of milk production – in 2017 it will amount to 10,288 KMT, which is 1.0% less than last year.
In addition, according to experts, the production of eggs in 2015 experienced the largest decline among the other types of animal products largely due to the loss of production facilities, which are located in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. In 2015 it declined from 19.6 billion units (2014) to 17.0 billion units in 2015.
“Last year, egg production decreased to 15.1 billion units. According to the calculations of Institute of Agricultural Economics, in 2017 there will be some stabilization – forecast is on the level of 15.2 billion units or 0.5% more than the last year”- said in the statement.
It also reported that the production of wool in 2017 will amount to 1.9 KMT, which is 5.6% lower than a year earlier.
