Volumes of Ukrainian grain exports decreased in February 2017

According to ProAgro, in February MY 2016/17, as well in the previous two months, the volume of grain and leguminous shipments from Ukraine (2.9 MMT) continued to decrease. Positive growth rates of exports In February 2017, compared to the previous month, were observed for such types of grain and legumes as: peas (+ 63.7%); barley (+ 24.7%); oats (+ 26.4%) and millet (+14, 3%). In addition, it should be noted that the growth in exports of flour in the reporting month rose by 15.9%. However, according to the results of February, the export of Ukrainian wheat and corn decreased by 30.7% and 21.6% respectively.

In the first eight months of MY 2016/17 (July-June), Ukraine exported 29.7 MMT of grain, which is 9.1% more than in the same period of the last year. In the total supply, barley amounted to 16.3%, corn – 36.4%, wheat – 47.3%. There were no substantial changes in the composition of the countries-buyers of Ukrainian grain – India remains the leader among buyers of domestic wheat (21.2% of grain shipments); Iran – main corn buyer (16.6%); and Saudi Arabia – main barley buyer (41.6%).

The largest exporters of grain since the beginning of the season were: Nibulon (7.7%), Kernel (7.6%), State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (4.7%), Cargill (3.5%) and ADM (3.3%), which exported almost a third of all Ukrainian grain in February.
