Spring grain crops were sown on an area of more than 3 million ha (as of April 25, 2017)

As of April 25, 2017 Ukrainian farmers sowed 3.1 million ha with spring grain and leguminous crops, which is 43% of the forecast.

This is reported by ProAgro with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

In particular, as of the reporting date, early spring grain and leguminous crops were sown on an area of 2.3 million ha or 96% of the forecast.

So, 160 thousand ha were sown with spring wheat, which is 89% of the forecast; spring barley was sown on 1.5 million ha (93% of the forecast); oats – 195 thousand ha (94%) and peas – 375 thousand ha (114%).

In addition, Ukrainian farmers continue to sow corn (836 thousand ha or 19% of the forecast); sugar beet (284 thousand ha or 97% of the forecast); sunflower (1.8 million ha or 33%).

Soybean sowing still continues, which as of the reporting date was carried out on an area of 100 thousand ha or 5% to the forecast.
